Artist Kang Min-seong's work, which attracts attention with the lines and aura created when disparate materials meet, has a unique charm from the aesthetics and emotions shown by traditional moon jars. Ceramic glass and iron, the materials mainly used by the artist, are very different in the way they are handled and expressed, but the lines created by the combination of disparate materials are modern yet reveal the naturalness of the material itself. The simplicity and inner strength shown by white ceramics are fragile. It stands out when glass, a flexible yet transparent material, is used together. In addition, the artist uses colors that are difficult to see in moon jars, such as blue, orange, and sky blue, and corroded iron in ceramics. By focusing on the color and texture properties of each material, the artist creates the moon jars. We are exploring new aesthetics of sculpture beyond jars.
