Every piece begins with intention, but not every piece ends where I imagined. Somewhere between shaping, drying, glazing and firing, clay develops a life of its own. Rather than resisting this unpredictability, I have learned to embrace it.
My practice is rooted in what I call “Beautiful Mistakes”—the belief that imperfections are not failures, but opportunities for transformation. Cracks become textures, collapsed forms become new silhouettes, and pieces that might otherwise be discarded are reimagined into objects with unexpected character and beauty.
Working primarily with porcelain and stoneware, I am drawn to surfaces that evoke nature: weathered bark, seed pods, coral, rock formations and the quiet erosion of time. These forms emerge through experimentation rather than rigid planning, allowing the material to guide the final outcome. Each vessel becomes a conversation between control and surrender, intention and accident.
I see clay as a metaphor for life. We often strive for perfection, yet it is our imperfections, adaptations and resilience that give us individuality and meaning. By reshaping what was once considered unsuccessful, I hope to challenge conventional ideas of beauty and encourage viewers to appreciate transformation over flawlessness.
Ultimately, my work is an invitation to reconsider failure with compassion—not as an ending, but as the beginning of something unexpected, authentic and uniquely beautiful.
