Indonesian artist Annetta Dewi Wijaya regards 'girlhood' as a central concept that runs throughout her practice. Rather than remaining a simple theme, it expands into a sensory approach that shapes her choice of materials, modes of expression, and overall imagery. Elements derived from her personal tastes—such as music, art, fashion, and popular culture—are reinterpreted through recurring motifs, colors, and textures, forming the distinctive feminine aesthetic that characterizes her work. Annetta studied Visual Communication Design at Petra Christian University in Surabaya, Indonesia, and received her Bachelor’s degree in Art and Design in 2020. Grounded in a design-oriented sensibility, her practice extends primarily through painting and textile, constructing pictorial spaces where visual narratives and material sensibilities are closely intertwined.
